In Beechworth Today back in 1878

Daniel our wonderful Walking Tour Guide is full of interesting information. Thanks for today's interesting fact Daniel.

On the 9th October 1878 (130 years ago) Ellen Kelly (Ned's mum) was given 3 years hard labour for attempted murder of Constable Fitzpatrick. She appeared in the Beechworth Courthouse before Redmond Barry with baby Alice at her breast. Neighbour "Bricky" Williamson and son-in-law Bill Skillion were each given 6 years hard labour over the same offence.
