Visitors to Indigo Shire’s suite of perfectly preserved historic
towns will be spoiled for choice this Queen’s Birthday Weekend with the return of some of the region’s most popular annual events.
Over 200 works by local and interstate artists will be on show and for sale at Chiltern’s annual Visual Art Exhibition at the Memorial Hall, officially opening this Friday 11 June at 7pm and continuing until Tuesday 15 June.
This year $2000 in prize money will be awarded to winners judged the best in categories including photographic, two dimensional and three dimensional works as well as the $500 Indigo Award for Emerging Artists under 25. A special preview will be held for elderly and disabled visitors this Friday, for school groups on Tuesday 9 June.

In Rutherglen this long weekend, Australia’s original wine festival, the Winery Walkabout, returns with a packed program of gourmet dinners and beautiful breakfasts, great live music from artists including Daryl Braithwaite and Diesel and dancing. Rutherglen’s Main Street will also be transformed into one of the biggest outdoor fairs in the country this Sunday when the Rotary Club presents its huge annual fundraiser. Stretching the entire length of Main Street, the Rutherglen Country Fair boasts more than 350 stalls as well as a great program of entertainment for the whole family including barrel rolling competitions, grape treading and live music.
